Description
THE STORY
Gairsay is a small scenic island that is part of the Orkneys, a cluster of isles located north of Scotland’s mainland. Currently one family owns and lives on the island, but before them, Gairsay was home to Norse legend Sweyn Asleifsson. Asleifsson was considered to be one of the last great Vikings. Gairsay also enjoys the unusual title of being one of very few Scottish islands allowed to issue its own postage stamp, due of lack of Royal Mail
